Prof Matthew Chukwudi Menkiti is an internationally distinguished research scientist with extensive professional experiences across leading institutions, including TTU-USA; TIPC-UCAS- China; CLRI- India; UP-South Africa; TUHH- Germany and UNIZIK-Nigeria. He holds a B.Eng, M.Eng and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering; in addition to M.Sc. in Envt. Managt. He is currently a Professor at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nigeria. He was a former chair of Chemical Engineering Dept and the Faculty Rep to the UNIZIK Senate.
His research interests lie at the intersection and application of green chemistry, engineering, process modeling & optimization, materials science, and raw material beneficiation; for the development of sustainable process methods to produce renewable products, such as bio-coagulants/adsorbents/membranes, bio-gas/oil, superabsorbents, aerogel, corrosion inhibitors, packaging films and more. These innovations have applications in water treatment, energy, corrosion control, healthcare, lubrication, and environmental conservation. At STIAS, he will focus on developing process systems for the sustainable production of superabsorbent polymers from renewable precursors.
He has over 140 refereed publications and served international research through editorial boards, doctoral examination and consultancy. Elsevier SciVal ranked him among the top 1% of researchers in Nigeria and Top 5 in the World for the Topic T.5388 "Coagulants; Moringa Oleifera; Wastewater Treatment".
