Lewis Abedi Asante is an Associate Professor in Housing and Urban Development at the Department of Estate Management, Kumasi Technical University, Ghana. He is an interdisciplinary scholar with expertise in housing and land governance, urban governance and development, and environment and sustainability. Since 2018, he has developed a strong publication record, with over 30 peer-reviewed articles in leading journals such as Housing Studies, Cities, Habitat International, Urban Geography, Geoforum, and Environment and Urbanisation. His research advances southern urban theory through innovative concepts including hybrid entrepreneurial urban governance, mal-ket, politically induced displacement, and wetland gentrification. He has secured competitive research funding as Co-Principal Investigator, supported by organisations such as the German Research Foundation and the Cambridge Africa Alborada Research Fund. His consultancy experience spans work with the World Bank on land and affordable housing, and with the African Cities Research Consortium on urban politics and political economy. He is the immediate past Head of Department of Estate Management at Kumasi Technical University. Overall, Prof. Asante’s work bridges theory, policy, and practice, offering grounded insights into urban challenges in Africa.
