Frederick Bukachi

Fred Bukachi is a Senior Cardiologist, Researcher and Associate Professor of Medical Physiology in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Nairobi (UoN). He is also the Director of the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA), Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). He trained in Internal Medicine at the UoN and later in Cardiology at the Imperial College, London, and Umea University in Sweden.  He holds a PhD in Cardiology. Since 2015 he has participated and chaired Guideline writing Committees in Kenya and the region - developing the guidelines on treatment of Hypertension, Heart Failure and Diabetes.  He also serves as a board member and advisor to many regional and international organizations working in the area of NCDs in Africa.
