Dr. Amollo Ambole is a Kenyan urban futurist and transdisciplinary scholar whose work brings together African cities, design, sustainability, and leadership. Over the past two decades, her work and publications have been grounded in a deep interest in how urban communities across Africa shape the cities they live in.

Amollo holds a PhD in Public and Development Management from Stellenbosch University. Her doctoral studies were supported by the TRECCAfrica programme, which strengthened the transdisciplinary approach she has carried through her work since graduating in 2016. With a background in design, she brings creativity and systems thinking to questions of urban transformation.

She is currently an Associate at the Institute for Climate Change and Adaptation at the University of Nairobi and a Research Associate at the University of Cape Town. She also consults and previously served as the inaugural Programme Director of the African Mayoral Leadership Initiative. She is currently consulting with Open Cities Lab on strategic partnerships and with the African Cities Research Consortium on urban development research and knowledge integration.

Living with a recent visual disability, Amollo is increasingly committed to inclusion and serves on the boards of inclusion-focused organisations, including Light for the World and Riziki Source.
