The Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study (STIAS) is pleased to announce the launch of STIAS Conversations, a new podcast series that offers audiences an engaging glimpse into the ideas, research and creative work that shape one of the world’s leading institutes for advanced study.
Hosted from the STIAS Wallenberg Research Centre in Stellenbosch, STIAS Conversations brings listeners into dialogue with STIAS Fellows, institutional leaders, collaborators and contributors whose work advances knowledge across disciplines and borders. Through thoughtful and accessible conversations, the podcast explores the questions, discoveries and innovations that emerge when scholars, scientists, artists and thought leaders are given the time and space to think deeply about society’s most pressing challenges.
The series reflects STIAS’s commitment to fostering intellectual excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration and public engagement. While most episodes highlight the groundbreaking work of STIAS Fellows, the podcast also features individuals involved in STIAS initiatives and partnerships, offering broader insight into the institute’s role as a catalyst for knowledge creation and exchange.
“STIAS Conversations provides a platform for sharing the remarkable ideas and stories that emerge within the STIAS ecosystem,” said Public Relations Manager, Noloyiso Mtembu. “It allows audiences to connect with the people behind the research and creative projects, and to better understand how knowledge can contribute to addressing complex global and local challenges.”
Episodes cover a diverse range of topics, from science, technology and health to the humanities, arts, social innovation and futures thinking. Each conversation aims to make complex ideas accessible while highlighting their relevance to society.
STIAS Conversations is available on YouTube and on the STIAS website. Look out for a new episode every three weeks.
