Twenty years of Ons komvandaan

On 5 to 7 February 2025 scholars and poets will gather at Stias to begin work on a hybrid academic-creative book to celebrate the twenty-year anniversary of the publication of Ons komvandaanby Diana Ferrus, the first Afrikaans-language poetry collection by a woman of colour. Participants include Ferrus herself, poets, translators and scholars researching, amongst other things, writing by black women, the Afrikaans literary system, the representation of slavery's legacy and Ons komvandaan's wide-ranging influence.
