Senior Programme Manager at STIAS

Christoff is responsible for the management of the operational implementation of the STIAS fellowship programme, including STIAS’ individual fellowships, team fellowships, Iso Lomso Mid-level Career fellowships, and artist-in-residence fellowships. The responsibility extends to engaging with the projects of every researcher at STIAS, to help identify synergy with the work of other scholars, and ultimately to facilitate healthy interaction and engagement within each semester cohort. In addition to the role’s focus on operationalisation, the position is substantively involved in the programme’s growth, renewal and alignment between the Fellowship Programme and the Institute’s other activities, especially the growth of STIAS Initiatives, including the Nobel in Africa Nobel Symposia Series.

“I take inspiration from the Institute’s leadership and advisory structures as they envision ways to advance the core values and objectives of the Institute”.

Christoff has served in this position since 2022, having joined STIAS in a full-time capacity as Programme Manager in 2015. Before this, he worked for the Stellenbosch University International Office, where he gained extensive experience in African and south-south-north partnerships and networks as well as exposure to institutions across Africa and worldwide. He obtained a PhD in Theology at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2007 and an MA in Philosophy at Stellenbosch University in 2002.
